Keep your physician's or surgeon's wound care orders and a current medication list where we can find them. If a wound vac is in use, have the pump and spare supplies nearby.
Choose a room where you can sit or recline for the length of the visit, with good light and a clean surface for supplies.
If you take medication before dressing changes, time it as your prescriber instructs. We are glad to talk through comfort steps at the first visit.
Write down anything that has worried you since your last appointment. We would rather answer a small question early than a large one late.
